The Old Forge at Highgate Village, circa 1890
Dodd's forge stood at 41 Highgate High Street, on the northern side of the junction with South Grove. The records show that the premises had been in continuous use as a smithy since at least 1664 when a farrier occupied it. Several generations of the Dodd family of blacksmiths worked there until 1895 when the ramshackle building was demolished. The site was later used as the 271 bus stand
